Dynamics of Swing Motion

Information of the Project
Launch April 1999-
Collaborators Seiji Kusubori (Prefectural University of Hiroshima)
Motonobu Ishii (Tokyo Institute of Technology)
Grants Scholarship of Yonex Sports Fundation
Keywords Whipping Motion, Joint Moment, Joint Force, Joint Angular Velocity, Energy Flow, Inverse Dynamics Calculation, Newton-Euler Equations, Link Segment Model, Video Motion Analysis
Outline A wavy limb movement called "whipping motion" is observed in throwing or hitting actions. This project illustrates the mechanical properties of swing motion from the computational analyses such as inverse dynamics and energy flow. The project now expands into outreach activities for supporting athletes and coaches.
